Our "flooded" car returns!! It even smells new. It was in much better condition than when we first got it. It looks great! Manila brought it to Baguio--we were up there for a meeting and they took Thomsen's old car (which we had been driving since they took away the new car we were given for one whole week!) back to Manila to sell it. The Mission only keeps a car for so long and then it is replaced with a new one and they sell off the old one.
It looked just like a brand new car--along with that great "new" smell.
The seats were brand new too. The only thing we discovered real quickly was they didn't fix the CD player, the defroster or the clock. Now, I know I sound like a "cry baby" but when you spend as much time in the car as we do a CD player is a must! We also have to have a defroster for the rainy season because we can't even see out the window with the wipers going full blast when it is raining, it fogs up so bad there is nothing you can do to keep it from happening. We found that out when we had it before we had the flood.
About a week after we got it the A/C went out--now THAT definitely was NOT acceptable, not with the heat and humidity in the "lowlands"! We took it into the dealership in Dagupan to find out they could not fix it--they would have to order parts from Japan, it would take 2 months and it would cost a lot to fix it.
We called the Mission Office to inform them of the problem. They got on the phone to Manila. Manila said they would bring us a replacement car in two days. I am telling you they really do "pamper" senior couples. They try to make them happy. That definitely did!
True to their word--we had a replacement car in two days. Manila took the flooded car back to fix the CD player, defroster and clock.
We have had a total of FIVE, yes, five cars since we arrived in Mangaldan. We are not having a good "track record" when it comes to cars!! The replacement car works great--we are just holding our breath!!
